Peroxide-crosslinked polyethylene is called PE-Xa. This type of crosslinking occurs at high temperature and pressure using peroxides. This process fuses the individual polyethylene molecular chains into a single three-dimensional structure. High-pressure crosslinking typically takes place in the molten state, i.e., above the crystallization point. The crosslinking process occurs in the extruder during pipe molding and ensures a uniformly high crosslinking percentage throughout the entire cross-section, even in thick-walled pipes.

The metal-polymer pipe manufactured with cross-linked polyethylene PE-Xa RAUTITAN Stabil has the following internal and external structure:

  • Self-supporting inner layer of cross-linked polyethylene (PE-Xa)
  • Aluminum layer that prevents oxygen diffusion
  • Outer layer of polyethylene

Applications:

  • Potable water supply system
  • Heating system
  • Air conditioning system (surface heating/cooling)

Corrosion resistance:

  • Pipes do not corrode
  • No deposits form
  • Sound transmission is prevented through the pipes
  • Good wear resistance
  • Safe from a toxicological and physiological standpoint

* According to the laws of physics, pipe material expands when heated and contracts when cooled. This phenomenon, regardless of the material, must be taken into account when installing water and heating systems. This also applies to RAUTITAN systems.

Thermal expansion occurs primarily due to changes in installation, operating, and ambient temperatures. During installation, it is necessary to allow sufficient freedom of movement in the pipe, as well as certain tolerances for longitudinal expansion. Additional elbows, such as L-shaped or U-shaped expansion joints, are generally required when significant thermal expansion occurs.
