The RAUPEX industrial piping system is based on cross-linked polyethylene (PE-Xa) pipes featuring a colored protective coating, manufactured in accordance with DIN 16892/93. RAUPEX pipes are available in two pressure ratings with corresponding wall thicknesses (SDR 11 and SDR 7.4). The SDR value represents the ratio of the pipe's outside diameter to its wall thickness.

The RAUPEX industrial piping system is successfully used for various applications across industries such as chemicals, electrical engineering, and automotive manufacturing. The RAUPEX system combines numerous advantages: fast and reliable connection technology, corrosion resistance, low pipe weight, and cost-effective installation. The RAUPEX industrial piping system is a comprehensive solution that meets all the demands of modern industry.

Areas of application

  • Compressed air transport.
  • Vacuum systems.
  • Inert gas transport.
  • Cooling water transport.
  • Wastewater drainage systems.
  • Cooling supply systems (excluding refrigerants).
  • Transport of solid materials.

Material properties

  • Corrosion resistance.
  • Resistance to aging.
  • High resistance to internal pressure at elevated temperatures.
  • Ability to return to original shape ("shape memory" effect).
  • High-temperature resistance.
  • Low sound transmission.
  • Resistance to pressure surges.
  • Toxicological and physiological safety.
  • High impact strength.
  • High abrasion resistance.

Chemical resistance

RAUPEX pipes exhibit high resistance to chemical compounds. Safety factors and high-temperature resistance depend on the medium and vary between water and compressed air applications. If RAUPEX pipes are intended for transporting chemicals, REHAU will provide technical consultation and support.

* Consult the manufacturer of the medium being transported for assistance in assessing chemical resistance.

Durability:

The durability of RAUPEX pipes depends on the interaction of factors such as pressure and temperature. These technical specifications are determined in accordance with DIN 16892/93 and provide only a general indication of resistance, as maximum temperature and pressure values can vary significantly depending on the specific application.

Pipe types

According to DIN 2403, pipes used to transport different media must feature specific color coding. Pipe color coding is carried out in accordance with the aforementioned standard.

RAUPEX-A. The RAUPEX-A pipe consists of UV-resistant cross-linked polyethylene (PE-Xa) compliant with DIN 16892/93 and a protective layer of PE 80 polyethylene in gray (similar to RAL 7001). Typical applications: compressed air transport, vacuum systems, and inert gas transport.

RAUPEX-K. The RAUPEX-K pipe consists of UV-resistant cross-linked polyethylene (PE-Xa) compliant with DIN 16892/93 and a protective layer of PE 80 polyethylene in yellow-green (similar to RAL 6018). Typical applications: transport of cooling water and industrial process water.

RAUPEX-O. The RAUPEX-O pipe consists of UV-resistant cross-linked polyethylene (PE-Xa) compliant with DIN 16892/93 and a protective layer of PE 80 polyethylene in blue (similar to RAL 5015). Typical application: compressed air transport. RAUPEX-M. The RAUPEX-M pipe consists of UV-resistant cross-linked polyethylene (PE-Xa) in accordance with DIN 16892/93 and a protective layer of PE 80 polyethylene; color: red (similar to RAL 3033). Typical applications include the transport of high-temperature media (industrial heating, transport of hot process fluids, supply lines for air heaters and ventilation units, and process surface heating systems).

RAUPEX-UV. The RAUPEX-UV pipe consists of UV-resistant cross-linked polyethylene (PE-Xa) in accordance with DIN 16892/93 and a protective layer of PE 80 polyethylene; color: black (similar to RAL 9005). These pipes are particularly suitable for outdoor installation where the pipe is exposed to ultraviolet radiation. When using this pipe, it should be noted that exposure to sunlight can cause the pipe's surface temperature to rise significantly. This factor must be taken into account when designing compressed air transport systems.

RAUTHERM-FW. The RAUTHERM-FW pipe consists of cross-linked polyethylene (PE-Xa) in accordance with DIN 16892/93 and an oxygen barrier layer in accordance with DIN 4726. Due to the oxygen barrier layer, this pipe is particularly suitable for closed-loop systems where preventing oxygen diffusion is required. RAUTHERM-FW pipes are not UV-resistant.
